Here at Guildford URC, we have a range of activities throughout the week that are aimed at our children and young people.

Our Children and Families worker, Nicky, is on hand to welcome you to our children, youth and family activities.

GURC works in partnership with Saint Nicolas Church, down the hill on Bury Street, and Nicky’s role covers both churches. Whether Nicky is running a group at GURC or Saint Nics, anyone is welcome to attend, no matter which church you regularly attend or if you don’t attend church at all!

Weekly activities
Little GURCkins
Little GURCkins runs from 10 – 11:30am, excluding Bank Holidays, in the Main Hall.
Receive a warm and friendly welcome from Nicky, Jackie and Brian who run Little GURCkins at Guildford URC.
Refreshments, including tea and coffee are available for adults and children alongside a wide range of toys and a craft activity.
After tidy up time at 11:15am we sit down and enjoy singing nursery rhymes or hearing a story.
Do I need to book?
No! Just turn up on the day and sign in.
Do you have baby changing faciliites?
Yes! Located on the middle floor of the building near the south entrance.
Is there free parking available at church?
Yes! free parking is available during your stay, please use the white bays only.
How do I access the main hall?
When entering the building, please come to the front of church, Portsmouth Rd side and walk around to the right-hand side of the building and through the door. On entering the building go right to enter the hall.
Do I have to pay?
No! There is simply a suggested donation of £1 to cover cost of drinks and snacks.
Messy Mondays
Messy Mondays runs during term time after school at 3:30-4:30pm in the Sanctuary.
Messy Mondays is for children aged 7 and under accompanied by a parent carer. If you enjoy Messy Church, Messy Mondays is a mini version of this.
Nicky is on hand each week to welcome you. The group is themed around a bible story and begins with a craft, followed by a story and refreshments for adults and children. We then finish with some worship songs.
This activity is free of charge.
Movers and Shakers
Movers and Shakers runs during term time in the Choir Room after school at 3:30-4:30pm.
Children aged 7 and under are invited to join Gillian, our director of music, in the Choir Room with their parents/carers to sing a variety of songs and have a go with a range of instruments.

Monthly activities

Pizzas@8 runs on the last Friday of the month in the Lower Hall during term time from 7:30-9:00pm for school years 7-13.
Pizzas@8 aims to empower young people to create a youth group that works for them. We want to encourage young people to create a space that is for them and reflects who they are.
What happens at Pizzas@8?
Making pizza, chatting, playing games, thinking and having fun together. We usually go out once a term for an activity for example, bowling, ice skating etc. And the last meeting of the year has now become our annual Nerf Party!
We also have lots of volunteering opportunities for our young people, such as at Messy Church, Holiday Club and the Christian Aid Big Brekkie.

Messy Church
Messy Church is worship for all-ages young and old alike. We have lots of fun, make music, share stories and think together, make lots of different crafts and finish each Messy Church with a meal for everyone. We especially enjoy making some of the food that we eat in our shared meal.
Messy Church is a joint activity with our partners at Saint Nicolas Church on Bury Street and as such changes location each time.
Messy Church usually takes place on the first Saturday of every month, 4-6pm, at Guildford URC or Saint Nicolas Church. Please see image for dates and locations for 2025. Or click here to go to see our current Messy Church information.
Café Church
Café Church takes place on the 4th Sunday of the month from 4-6pm sitting around tables to worship, chat, make, do and – most importantly – share food together! Café Church is shaped to be for all ages together with contemporary worship. For more information and dates, click here.
Holiday Club
Dates for 2026 – 27th – 31st July 2026
Holiday Club is great fun for school years R – 6 in the summer holidays. Every year we have a theme across 5 mornings where we play games, get crafty, hear stories, sing and have lots of fun.
